All About Hunter Gatherer Diet

Hunter gatherer diet also known as paleo diet can be described as a nutrition plan based on wild animals and plants that our ancestors, many many years ago (in the Paleolithic era), were used to eat. The contemporary paleo diet or hunter gatherer diet excludes all types of farm and processed foods and consists of fish, meat, plant roots, nuts, fruits etc.

The main reason why many people like this diet plan is quite simple. Individuals in the Paleolithic period were healthy with a strong physique. They were free of ailments like diabetes, heart troubles, obesity, depression, arthritis etc. They didn’t have to wear glasses as their eyesight was good. All these diseases and over weight problem came as we moved to the current age. Therefore, to overcome these problems, why don’t we get back to hunter gatherer diet.

A paleo diet shouldn’t contain any processed food and sugar, potatoes, beans, grains, dairy products etc. which are available from farms. The diet plan should consist of meat, fish, nuts, roots, berries etc. that hunter gatherers used to consume.

Hunter gatherer diet will reduce the calorie intake and increase the vitamin intake significantly. You can start with having the paleo diet in the breakfast everyday. When your body gets used to that, you can start having it in all 3 meals.

A popular book on this diet plan called as the Primal Blueprint has been written by Mark Sisson, a former world class endurance athlete with a degree in environmental science. The primal blueprint diet plan is just like the hunter gatherer diet. He also described in his book, some actions which are necessary to build a healthy and strong body like moving around slowly, lifting heavy things, lots of sleep etc. Things that hunter gatherers were used to do.

You’ll find thousands of diet plans existing today which claims to be created with newest scientific research. But in reality, most of them have a success rate of 6% roughly Moving backward and adopting a paleo diet could be the one needed for you.
